Mr Forester trained at the University of Leicester. After house posts he worked in the Royal Air Force initially as a General Practitioner and then as a surgical trainee. His surgical training was in Northwest Thames and he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Trauma and Upper Limb Surgery, initially between the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital, London.  Mr Forester was the British Elbow and Shoulder Society Travelling Fellow in 1998 and remained in the NHS working for Imperial College Healthcare at Charing Cross Hospital, West London.

In recent years his work has increasingly centred on shoulder and elbow surgery and to all common conditions around the shoulder, but with a particular interest in Arthroscopic Surgery, particularly for frozen shoulder, rotator cuff pathology and instability. Mr Forester actively lectures and teaches surgical colleagues as well as General Practitioners and allied professionals. He is a part of the Faculty of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons at Edinburgh and takes an active part in post-graduate training.
