Mr Charles Gibbons is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic surgeon with specialist interest in arthroscopic knee surgery and arthroplasty surgery (hip and knee replacement). His practice involves the treatment of knee sports injuries (meniscal, articular cartilage and ligament) and degenerative conditions of the hip and knee.

He trained in Bath, Stanmore and London. A fellowship year was spent with Mr John Bartlett at The Austin and Repatriation Hospital in Melbourne (2000) and and with Mr Michael Sandow at The Royal Adelaide Hospital (2001)

He was appointed as a consultant to The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2002 and has been Clinical Lead for the department.

Research interests: bone mineralisation around uncemented implants, arthroscopic synovectomy in RA, use of cryotherapy after TKR, bone bruising patterns after soft tissue knee injury.

Arthroscopic knee surgery: meniscal tears, articular cartilage defects, ligament reconstruction, patello-femoral disorders
