He has presented and published nationally and internationally and was awarded the HCA International Foundation and Codman Neurosurgical Scholarships. He has worked as a reviewer for the British Journal of Neurosurgery and is on the London Neurosurgery Specialty Training Board.

Spinal Surgery:
Mr Laban is an expert in back pain, sciatica, neck and arm pain, lumbar, thoracic and cervical disc degeneration and spinal tumours including spinal metastatic disease. He has a vast repertoire of spinal surgical skills (including minimally invasive surgery, anterior / posterior / 360 degree fusion, and disc surgery). He is interested in spinal pathophysiology, preventative medicine and non-invasive therapies. He is a core member of the spinal MDT at St George’s which includes the largest metastatic spinal surgery service in the U.K. He combines his expert knowledge of these non-surgical and surgical therapies to provide tailor-made individualized treatment.

Brain Surgery:
Mr Laban is a neuro-oncology surgeon with expertise in benign and malignant brain tumours (metastases and gliomas). He uses computerized image guidance, intra-operative monitoring, 5-ALA fluorescence and awake surgery to maximize tumour resection, improve patient safety and obtain the best long-term outcomes. He works closely with oncologists who provide neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatment options. He is a core member of the neuro-oncology MDT at St George’s which has the shortest length of surgical stay and some of the best outcomes in the U.K. He offers guidance on the various treatment options to deliver excellence in patient-centered neuro-oncological care.
