Mr Omar Faiz is a Consultant Surgeon at St Marks Hospital, Harrow and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. His area of clinical interest is colorectal surgery in particular the surgical management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer. He trained in general and colorectal Surgery within London and the South East of England and undertook specialist colorectal fellowships at St Marks Hospital and Valencia University Hospital prior to taking up a substantive consultant post.  

Mr Faiz has wide research interests and he supervises a number of PhD and MD research fellows at Imperial College. His principal research interests include colorectal surgical epidemiology, health services research and surgical outcome research. He has authored over seventy papers published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition he has authored eleven book chapters and three anatomy text books.

Mr Faiz holds various leadership positions at a national level. He is the current Chairman of the Association of Coloproctologists of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) IBD subcommittee. He is also Chair of the national Ileal Pouch Registry and represents the ACPGBI on the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Standards board. In addition, he is Vice-Chair for the GI surgery group within the Global Comparators partnership an international surgical benchmarking group.

Laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal and anal cancer, diverticular disease, haemorrhoids and anal fissure.
